The Fast Approaching Inevitability
Goodbyes are hard
We all know the routine
Most go through it thrice
Before they are fifteen
A lifeless body
A car that’s been shredded
I wish I could forget it
Too bad it’s embedded
Do we ever get over it
Or do we just become numb
Suddenly we want to savor
Every single crumb
We want to be okay
And act like we have control
But in reality
We only have an empty soul
We can fill it with things
They shine and they gleam
At the end of the day
We cannot change the theme
The theme of death
Of sadness and fear
We really can only chuckle
It’s coming in high gear
