Thirteen ways of Looking at Emotions
I.
The anger emerged
Like the sun in the morning
She was consumed by it
II.
Although it was fake,
The smile remained
Nothing was wrong.
III.
It happened slowly then suddenly
A breathtaking, uncontrollable hurricane
IV.
The anxiety capsulated her
At once
The three words repeated back to her
Were the antidote
V.
It felt like Christmas
Her only wish came true
She wasn’t convinced it was real
It couldn’t be possible
She was right
VI.
The slumber released her
Back to reality
The room darkened
From the time she was under
Where am I?
What day is it?
What time is it?
VII.
The days went by quickly,
Why was that?
Perhaps it was him,
The happiness she felt
Was heightened in his presence
VIII.
It was okay
Fine, mediocre
It could work,
But it wasn’t it.
It wasn’t it.
IX.
She’s sorry.
She wants to take it back,
But it’s too late.
X.
She couldn’t hold it in
It was bound to slip out
A large smile overtook her face
The obnoxious noise evaded her control.
XI.
Her nose was upturned,
Wrinkles appearing above.
She turned away.
She didn’t want to hear it.
Her stomach turned.
Awful.
XII.
What was that?
Let’s go check!
XIII.
A great loss.
It wasn’t hers,
But she felt as though it was.
Her heart cried.
Her hand dried tears of sympathy.
