I bit my nail
A filthy habit
From younger years
I held my breath as I watched
The ragged edged nail
Drop to the floor
which, at this moment
Was littered with broken nails
And empty tears
Dripping and dropping
Simultaneously
to the cold wood floor
Accompanied by
Silent screams eager to run
Flailing around the room
Bouncing off the hollow walls
Eager to slip out the window
Each inaudible scream wishing to wisp
Under the crack of the door
And glide into the darkened night
Free to join the stars
Falling carelessly from the sky
