I remeber being three
Holding my mother's hand as we walked the dirty New York streets
Walking in my patent leather mary-janes
"Toe, heel, toe, heel"
Acting elegant and rich
In my blue dress that buttoned up the front
Or my magenta parka with the hood up
And my bag for preschool on my back
With flowers and girls on it, I thought I was thirteen
Now that I am, I like to remember being three
