Polyphemus
Polyphemus
without a law to bless him
a brute so huge; a wild man
In this cave alone
ignorant of civility.
no muster and no meeting,
no consultation or old tribal ways
eater of guests
damned cannibal!
Wheezing as the pain came on
he tugged the bloody spike.
put to shame and blinded
‘What ails you Polyphemus?’
