Mennonites
Mennonites

In the dank of the dirty amusement park
 They slouch
 Taking shelter under the roof
That drips with rain water and grime
 They stand among refugees
 Of stalling rides
 Hypnotized by the hum
 And beep
 Of video games
 Transfixed
 By adventures
 Obscured by
 Small sticky fingerprints
 Glass fogged with intense inhaling
 And exhaling
 Pudgy noses
 Flattened forcefully
 Against the glass barrier

In the dank of the dirty amusement park
 Lustrous light licks
 The soggy air
 Seething off the flame
 Of the cigarette
 Pinched between their fragile fingers
 The glow glints
 Off their deep dark eyes
 Creased foreheads
 Puckered lips
 Draw in smoke embroidered air
The smoke hangs in the humidity
 Forever staining
 Their blue dresses
 With its scent
