I Am Me
I am bubbly and vivacious
I wonder if the secretive whispers exchanged in the narrow halls are about me
I hear the trickling sounds of raindrops gliding along my glossy window sill
I see the glowing light in the darkest hour
I want to soar over the world creating memories as I hop from one city to the next.
I am bubbly and vivacious
I pretend it doesn't matter what other people think of me
I feel overjoyed while I step out on stage and perform the dances I have invested a plethora of hours and hard work into
I touch the rough edges and designs carved into the seashells, as I uncover the wet sand while I move my gentle fingers side to side and find a new treasure each time
I worry that one day I'll miss listening to the smooth words that spell out I love you, spoken from my mothers lips
I cry when I remember my grandfathers crooked toes resting on the coffee colored chair as we laughed in the small, dim room, like we always did
I am bubbly and vivacious
I understand that there's a long road ahead of me filled with rocky bumps along the way
I say there's always a brighter tomorrow
I hope the sky hears my prayers and thoughts, as the sun glistens and smiles down on me
I am bubbly and vivacious

This poem was a class assignment, however it meant much more to me. I was inspired while writing this because I expressed myself freely and touched upon deeper meanings and values I found within myself. I loved the creative freedom I was given. It allowed me to personalize this poem that I now felt more in touch with.
