Damage
Running, running, running!
Trying to escape from what you’ve done
From the hell that has begun
Blazing, blistering, boiling, burning
It grows madder by the minute
As I get smaller and smaller
The moon, oh so silent as if nothing were wrong
Scream, say something, make it stop
Can’t you see
You’re hurting me?
The falling trees
The dying leaves
The screaming crows
It just grows
The dancing fire slow and consuming
Each time it grows there’s less of me
Can’t you see
You’re hurting me?
It’s only the beginning
But when will it end
Everyone says there’s light
At the end of the tunnel
But I’m tired of the light, it hurts and burns
When will it end?
When will the ashes stop floating away
Like those broken dreams from lonely souls
Afraid, lost, and confused
In this lonely world
Why would you do this to me?
Look at what I made for you
Isn’t it enough?
Is the end near?
Cause I’m tired of fear
Can’t you see
You’re hurting me?

I want to bring awareness about forest fires because trees are really important, and humans cut down so many trees and don’t always plant new ones. I’m afraid that one day there won’t be any more trees and we’ll all die because we couldn’t keep the trees safe. Trees are amazing! I also want the reader to feel how even though trees don’t have skin or the same kind of feelings we do, I want the reader to understand that they can feel pain too. I just want people to understand that we need to take better care of our planet. This poem also has a bit of another meaning, it has to do with emotional pain and important people leaving me. I tried to express my emotions by using the symbol of fire and how it hurts trees.
