Music Box

January 14, 2017

Oh, how wonderful that box may seem,
Such happy and delicate music it sings
The dancer looks so lovely up on top,
Dancing to the rhythm and oh-so happy beat
Of the box.

Though so happy, repetitive it may seem
That happy little tune, the box may sing
Though so lovely up on top, looks may be deceiving,
With that oh-so happy, though mocking,
Beat of the box.

Pull it out when you get sad,
Put it away, back on the shelf
When you're feeling better
Use the same tune when you need it,
Push it away, and may the box sit.

Repetitive harmony of strict expectancy
“Happy,” we call it, “delicate,” we see
Orchestras of aggressive pounding are played from the inner functions in which we see so lovely
A tormented girl -wait, no- a puppet moving to the same rhythm with no time for recovery
No freedom, no pace, oh-so tired, oh-so elite
A dancer is dancing to the same, repetitive beat.

Wheels colliding, Cranks turning,
Breaks breaking, energy burning,
Silently yearning, no one concerning,
Nor returning,
what the box gives them.

And through all of this chaos and madness,
all they see is...:

An oh-so wonderful box (it may seem),
With such happy and delicate music it sings
The dancer looks so lovely up on top,
Dancing to the rhythm and oh-so happy beat

...Of the box.
