4th of July poem
You’re sitting down
on a red blanket
looking out into the distance.
You see tall light gray
Portland buildings
towering high above you,
reflecting off the murky brown
Willamette river water.
The sun is now
just starting to set,
painting the sky with
light pinks,
periwinkles,
and deep reds.
Big oak trees
surround you,
as you await the fireworks.
sitting with you
Sydney,
Braiden,
and Dylon.
Braiden is by far the tannest
his olive skin tone complimenting
his bright red hat
You can hear people talking
listening to loud music playing.
faintly Crickets are chirping
and water is splashing against the bank.
air feels cool on your skin,
the ground is still warm from the heat of the day.
You can smell people bbqing dinner
n faintly smell your favorite perfume, sulfur and sun screen
all blending together
making the waterfront feel very home like.
In your hand you?e holding a
cold refreshing coke.
It tastes super sweet
as it fizzes down your throat.
