Free Falling
It was practice upstairs again.
I was doing my back handspring upstairs trying to make it more elegant.
I wanted to move up my skill level and work on the next best thing.
I thought to myself “Let’s do a tuck Emma!”
My coach had been spotting me on my tuck for a while now.
She spotted me less and less each time.
A varsity cheerleader walked in, her name was Brittany and she wanted to spot me on my tuck.
Only one problem………
She was about 10 inches shorter than me.
The first time I did my tuck with my coach and Brittany spotted me.
It went fine, I mean, I made it over.
Now my coach left to take a phone call so Brittany was spotting me alone.
I was supposed to jump up in the tuck, I didn't, I jumped backwards like in a back handspring.
When I jumped back she didn't know I was going to do that so she didn't spot me enough.
It didn't take me long to figure out that I landed on my head, I mean was sitting on it.
I was on the floor and I looked like an ostrich the way my head was on the ground.
At first I hadn't realized I had fell.
Then I started feeling an aching pain in my head.
Now at least I know how to jump in a tuck.
Hopefully I can get better.
Now I know not to let a person shorter than me spot me in a tuck.
