the football game
It was a warm summer evening
I went to a football game
I could smell hot dogs from the concession stand
And the walkways were crowded with people
It was me and my two friends
We got to the game by walking
It was not far from my friend’s house
Once there, we planned to walk around and talk to our friends
By the time we got there, the game had already started
I saw the football flying through the sky
I could hear the crowd screaming
It was so loud I could not hear myself think
As we chatted with friends
It started to rain.
It was suddenly cold and windy
People scrambled to get out of the rain
Next things I knew, I lost my friends
I searched and searched for them,
Finally gave up and called my mom
She was furious with me for going.
From this experience I learned
That it is not cool to leave your friend behind
And that Moms get mad when they have to come get you,
in the dark, when they are already in their pajamas
