Light
Gently, it crawls,
The sun is up.
The rooster calls,
“Get up! Get up!”
Light, such a beautiful thing,
It makes its way through the darkness
Whispering: “I wonder what today will bring?”
“Will today be filled with happiness?”
You roll over,
And mumble five more minutes.
But today light doesn’t bring you a four-leaf clover.
He says: “You better be in it to win it.”
Sometimes you have to play life like a game.
You need both brains and brawn,
To try not to live with shame.
To get up each dawn.
Soon enough, light wins,
And energy washes over you.
You always end up letting light in.
Because you need it more than you think you do.
