The Greenhouse
It was a good day with the giant lamp shining down on the plants.
I went to Katherine’s to ask if we could go, to the greenhouse to say, “hello.”
We met up soon later by a farm. She ran up to me as she grabbed my arm.
Katherine showed me a new path through the woods. With endless smiles we ran right past each neighborhood.
We got to the greenhouse all out of breath. We got our watering cans that smelt like death.
I got to the flowers with green vines too. Katherine smiles and laughed saying, “This smells like you.”
We both laughed like hyenas, waking the ants. When two seconds later I get dirt on my bright blue pants.
Arriving at the end we would meet up soon. Down at the other end of the greenhouse at noon.
Getting ready to leave, we saw a little seed. She grabbed it and said, “I think this is milkweed.”
“Let’s grow it!” I said with the biggest grin. We watered the plant as it grew within.
The plant grew and grew until it was taller than me. Right away, we trembled our knees.
A face on the monster appeared nice and quick. Surely soon after, the air was foggy and thick.
Without even thinking we began to run. Out of the greenhouse and back into the sun.
Following after us was a monster with roots. Our terror grew stronger with snakes in our boots.
The ground began to shake as the creature drew near. Katherine and I were both so petrified, thinking we’d disappear.
Sooner than later Katherine found a shed. We both began to run with full speed ahead.
The rusty shed was locked on all sides. I just bent down, started to cry.
Katherine found a tool to use for an advantage. She broke open the door saying, “I knew I could manage.”
We each grabbed a tool to kill the beast. We looked at each other, nodded, and knew the soil could have a feast.
We each hit it twice and it fell to the ground. I guess we work good together, like the Fox and the Hound.
