Head Over Heels

We ran as fast as we could, because we were melting under the sun,
Both of us just desired to get in the water, and have some fun,
We ran right onto the cold, wet playground, and ran right back down
The water was as cold as a an icecube
The water was freezing, but we still wanted to get wet,
We got right back in the freezing water, and decided not to fret,

We started to shiver, and quiver and shake, but we knew if we got off we would start to bake,
If we ran around on the burning cement, our feet would ache
Running to the wave pool sounded like a good idea
We headed there and heard the water drip, drip, drop on the ground

We scurried to the end of the playground, as fast as we could
Everyone tells you to walk and not run, and we knew that we should
We started running down the cold, wet stairs
Then my heel got caught, and I don't think anyone cared
I let out a big yelp
Addy came for help

The back of my heel hurt so bad, I could barely walk,
We looked for first aid, my heel hurt; I didn’t really want to talk
We found first aid, and we ambled through the door,
My heel hurt every time it touched the cold floor
He asked,”what’s wrong?”, and I told him “I hurt my heel”,
He explained that it wasn’t a big deal

He gave me a bandaid, to put over my heel,
I didn’t get how that would help, at least it wouldn’t start to peel
We left first aid, started walking back to our chairs,
At least we didn’t have to walk on any more stairs
I explained my mom what had happened while we were gone
She uttered I guess you’ll just have to move on
I guess I would have to move on
Now I understand why not to run on wet stairs
