Before Bedtime Nightmare
My cat sat there meowing away as she begged for food
Her favorite thing to do was to give me attitude
The bowl was now filled causing her to scarf it down her throat
I left her alone because I had to finish my keynote
As I started towards the door, I realized I forgot my drink
I left it on the ironing board I think
As I reached for it, it tipped over the iron
Maybe I was just really quite tired
Without thinking I touched the soleplate with my bare hands
“Ow! Help!” I shrieked as I couldn’t stand
Pain shot through my arm as if I just touched the sun
Sprinting to the sink, I put it under frigid cold water and I called for anyone
Quickly my mum ran up the stairs, worried with fear
She asked what happened as I explained that all I wanted was my root beer
It started blistering immediately which I had to wrap it with sports gause
At this point I think my stupidity deserved a round of applause
Thankfully the emergency room was not needed this time
Which was relieving because it was my bedtime
The next morning it still burned yet it got much better
Although it was still difficult to write a letter
