Big,Black and Beautiful
We all knew it was true,
Mom did not want the dog,
  that big sweet dog.
I stood still looking down the hill,
wondering why my parents dragged me to the backyard.
The tall green grass blew a feeling,
  a buzzing feeling
  My eyes scanned the yard.
  Until….
A slight movement behind a tree,
  “Mom” I whispered
  What is going on,
  “Go!” someone yelled
I jumped unsure of what was going on,
  suddenly a huge black dog
  Tore through the yard
Grass flew as she spotted me.
  I couldn't believe my eyes.
Who brought their dog to our house,
  that's not our dog.
Mom would never ever get a dog.
A thunk of astonishment hit me out of nowhere
The HUGE black dog laid down at my feet
I wasn't sure if I was nervous or excited.
Emotions erupted that I couldn't understand.
My heart turned gooey like honey
I remembered our random conversations of names,
  “Piper” I murmured.
  That was mom’s favorite name.
  I still was unsure.
We all knew it was true,
Mom did not want a dog.
But that dog had a little white heart on her belly that was irresistible,
And a little splash of puppy.
  She was big,black,beautiful
and was now rolling on my feet.
  “She's ours!” mom yelled,
  “She’s ours” I said.
