Clip.
Zip.
Grasp.
Adjust.

We sit on the tube,
anxious to start.
The crashing waves in the water
pull us apart.

We freeze and we shake ,
and we impatiently wait
for the crazy adventure,
in the crystal glass lake.

The view suddenly shifts
as we jerk to the right.
We are grasping the rope handles
for our dear life.

We jump and we turn,
We fling and we fly--
our hands feeling numb,
but our smiles still wide.

The boat zips around the lake
as my hands go weak,
the water smacking the tops of my feet.
I let go of my clench
and I lose my strength,
and I fall back,
into the wake.

The water drags me under
as I ponder--
what in the world
would I do without
my friends.
These memories
will last a lifetime,
I have no doubt.

The author's comments:

I was thinking back on summer 2016, and I chose just a small but very exciting and meaningful memory to write about. I think that having fun and being happy with your friends is a very important thing in life.
