Shooting stars in Saint Johns Michigan
We can see Lansing from here.
There are meteors invading our atmosphere
as we wait
as we watch
as we listen
in peace.
I am sad that
we don't talk anymore
Our songs always on
reminding me of how we were before
But we have to much pride
to talk to each other now
I see the frown on your face
the wrinkle between my brow
I still have all the pictures
the drawings we drew
And I know 8 years is a long time
but, OH, how time flew
In peace
I listen
I watch
I wait
as meteors invade our atmosphere.
I can see Lansing for here,
but maybe it’s just you
You were always so bright
I could see you from across the room
But now when I see you
you always look so gloom
and I hope it’s not because of me
the pain that I brought
But with the hurt that I felt
I didn’t give your pain any thought
and, Oh God,
I was lucky to have you
and I hope, to God,
You feel luck you had me too
but maybe like this poem
we’re coming to an end
or maybe we’ll start again
Because, Skylar, I thought you were my forever friend.
Can you see Lansing from over there?
Can you see the meteors invading our atmosphere?
Are you waiting?
Are you listening?
Are you in peace,
now that i'm gone?
