Rain lands in silence on cold awaiting streets.
As it meshes with blood, a heart lies on its last beat.
Thousands lie dead as they criss-cross the ground.
A deadly pattern is seen, as out rings the sound.
Of gunshots then silence for everyone knows,
The first one to scream is the next one to go.


The author's comments:
I wrote this piece after doing some additional research into the horrors of the holocaust. That is the main point of this poem but it can be related to our struggles throughout our war ridden world.

This is amazing! I adore this poem, you should think about entering some other poetry contests; you could easily be published!

I love the rhyming, and the detail and imagery, this is very well written.
