Deciduous Trees
If you look around for but one day
About our man-made cities, and forests in decay
You would see that though alive,
Our very own Earth is a hard drive.
The hard drive of us, scars and all
We’re all tallied, no matter how small
Each tree dismembered
All things, remembered
Our first steps, her first grief
With each shredded leaf
Our footprints stay
If you are here, for even one day.
You would see that though alive,
Mother Earth is our hard drive.
