Elegy to the Civil War
Young man
In a blue coat
You are trembling with fear
With the thought of dying
Your heart beats faster than you can count
Where are you?
"I'm in the Civil War"
"I need to defend my country"
From whom?
"The Confederate States"
"All they want is slavery"
"But we know that it is wrong"
"Ready? Fire!"
(BANG) (BANG)
Many fall to the ground instantly
ZING! ZING!
SPLAT! SPLAT!
The soldier struggles to reload
Then it happens...
It seemed as though the bullet were in slow motion
As it reached the soldier's heart
He then goes to the ground
His blood seeps into the dirt
His eyes close forever
He fought very bravely
He sacrificed his life in order to put an end to slavery
He gave his all
God bless this soul
Goodbye...
