Guys and Road Closed Signs
You know, I've been a lot of funny places in my life. Perhaps the strangest place I've been is "Stuck In Love". I don't mean that kind of puppy dog, mushy love that teenagers pretend to have even though they can't fathom what true heartbreak really is. I mean love, the kind where you would give up everything to see someone happy. And no matter what turns I take, I always end up "Stuck In Love" with you. And it's always you. Who have I been kidding all this time? It's you. But to you, it's not me. No matter what I do, it's never me. This place of "Stuck In Love" is so harsh when you're alone. It's a dark place, in the heart of all things good and pure and innocent, it's cold and lonely. It's seems that I've been driving all around this lonely place of "Stuck In Love" and all I can seem to do is find "Road Closed" signs at every exit. Do you just see my love and close down the emotions that you showed when you thought I was just being friendly? Do you see who you are to me? Do you close down all of the roads to your heart because you don't accept the truth you deserve? But maybe that's what love is - a simple road closed sign. Once you fall, you can't get back up. Once you're lost, you can't be get yourself out - until someone finds you. I don't just mean that they find you in the physical sense, I mean all of you. The emotionally unstable, motivated by indie music and fresh coffee, crazy parts of you and that makes you, you. And I've found all these pieces in you. Every movie quote, every sports number of your favorite team, every ounce of you. And I will wait for you to see these pieces in me, just please don't close your roads to me.

This slam poem is one that means a lot to me. Imagine standing in front of a crowd, the person that you love more than anything is sitting in the front row, the only problem is that this person doesn't love you back.
