My hands stretched out,
trying to catch my fall,
they hit first,
then my face.
There is a moment of shock,
and then the pain,
oh how it hurt.

I stand up
tears streaming down my face.
I look down
the skin torn,
open,
raw,
and red.

Sobs rack my body,
the awkward breath catching in my throat.

The silent streets
filled with the sounds of my pain.

I can see blood
warm,
slow,
and steady.
The smooth texture
coating my arms and legs
