Custos De Spiritus
For centuries, the notion of different realities has been well known,
though not many have been able to undergo the soul transition,
four primary realities are known:
Cottidianus Veritate, Tenebris Veritate, Incorporeal Reality, Naturae Veritate.
Cottidianus Veritate,
the one we're most familiar with,
the one inhabited by humans,
a reality frequently visited by the spirits of other realities.
Tenebris Veritate,
the second to be discovered by mankind,
saturated with dark beings who stain the minds of the innocent,
depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts and other mental instabilities bloom from these monstrosities.
Incorporeal Reality,
perceived by humans for a very long time,
our ancestors have named this “Heaven”,
only recently has this reality been truly explored.
Naturae Veritate, or The Nature of Truth,
The gateway for the spirits who inhabit any reality,
It enables the possibility of soul transition,
Its dangers are unknown.
Theories exist saying that there are infinite realities,
no human had been able to travel through the known realities safely,
and no human was brave enough to travel through the unknown ones,
not until recently.
Mirit was a brave hearted, strong willed, level headed girl,
she had the undiscovered ability to travel through realities safely,
her talents were unmeasurable,
yet she didn’t believe this herself.
It all happened very suddenly,
rain drops clashed with the glass of her bedroom window,
the darkness enveloped her sleeping body,
and the sound of soft snores could be heard,
Crackling thunder awoke her,
Eyes widened in fear as she looked around her room,
nothing was the same,
yet everything seemed unchanged.
She was laying on her bed,
but instead of her warm snow colored covers,
blood stained sheets wrapped around her delicate skin,
eyes stared at her from every angle of the dark room.
She didn’t dare to scream for her mother,
she didn’t dare to get out of that bed,
she didn’t even dare to take a deep breath,
because she knew this was Tenebris Veritate.
Tenebris Veritate was a land of evil,
monsters lurked through gray meadows,
battle-sweat flowed from their mouths and eyes,
each terrifying in their own way.
Some say these creatures used to be human,
humans who had been consumed by their own darkened thoughts,
who now only resembled the worst parts of themselves,
and lived with heavy melancholy in their unbeating hearts.
A handful of pure spirits inhabited in Tenebris Veritate,
they belonged to another reality who had lost a war against the dark realm,
these pure spirits were made up of good thoughts,
yet had to coexist with the obscure residents.
A single tear streamed down Mirit’s face,
it had the scent of both despair and hope,
particularly pleasing to the pure spirits,
their senses hadn’t felt hope in many years.
The pure spirits approached the young girl’s body,
they hummed velvety melodies as they moved along the room,
streams of gentle light were left behind each entity,
their intentions honest and innocent.
Mirit softly spoke,
“Pure spirits of the doomed,
my mind has fallen into chaos,
I have awoken in a reality that does not belong to me”.
“Miss, you are indeed in Tenebris Veritate,
we suspect that you have soul transitioned as you slept,
you must understand that this isn’t a casual matter,
you have been brought to us for a reason.
You must find your purpose, but you mustn't waste your time,
this land is dangerous,
you will become more corrupt as time slips through your fingers”
sang the pure spirits in harmony.
Mirit opened the door of the blood-stained room,
she had decided to face whatever came her way,
she had no interest in a nefarious future,
she had no intentions of becoming a monster of the dark land.
The scent of her despair and hope had been felt from miles away,
outside the door waited a line of monsters,
each with their own idiosyncrasies,
yet their interests all grew from the same roots.
“You must always honor life,
even the life of the evilest creatures.
Defeat them all,
free their spirits from eternal suffering.
Pain mustn't be felt as you do so,
they will thank you for the liberation.
Guidance will be found through your extrication-thirsty blade,
and make sure you only kill with so.
Completion of this task will ensure peace in this land,
enablement of soul transition might be possible,
but once you do so,
your memories must be kept locked away.”
Mirit’s blade and heart were now once,
swimming through the sea of monsters,
separating body from soul,
clearing the consciousness of the doomed.
Scarlet rain drenched dirk and earth,
scattered corpus delicti coated the wild grasses,
two moons passed before the finalization of Mirit’s quest,
the brimming scent of exhaustion and pride filled the air,
and once again the pure spirits approached the young girl,
“Your responsibility hasn’t truly accomplished,
your pride was enough to create a monster in this world,
she lurks nearby, and is in search of your body,
defeat her and you will find the treasure you’ve been searching for.”
As nightfall concealed earth’s golden rays,
the last creature of the dark realm tracked Mirit’s dozing body,
walking slowly on four legs,
so quiet only the girls calm breaths could be heard.
The monster a reflection of Mirit’s flaws,
it stood with its chest proudly out,
eyes small and blind,
and a hunger for blood.
It awoke her with a loud screech,
her ears ringing and her heart racing,
her body panicking by her mind ready,
she took out her dagger and stood.
The battle went on for hours,
the monster knew Mirit’s every move,
and Mirit knew the monster’ every move,
they mirrored each other almost perfectly.
But of course, Mirit won,
there was nothing she couldn’t defeat,
but she had gained a new understanding and respect,
what she did was not for herself.
What she did was to release those who had suffered,
what she did was to give freedom to others souls,
what she did was to ease the minds of families,
what she did was for others entirely.
Just as the pure souls had said,
Mirit received her reward,
she slowly fell back into a deep state of sleep,
not knowing what would come next.
Warm rays shone through her window,
her eyes fluttering open,
the scent of vanilla danced through her room,
the sheets were white as snow.
She was back home,
but now she held on to memories,
memories which she was prohibited to share,
memories which would haunt her existence.
Months passed before Mirit’s closure,
and with this closure came danger and hardship,
as well as the call for help from the pure souls,
and the reminder that her job hadn’t been completed.
“Mirit, we have made a mistake,
you haven’t found your meaning,
you haven’t realized yet,
and for our mistake, we have paid.
Many of us have turned,
and those who turned are after you,
you must free their innocent souls,
you must think about who you are.”
And with that said, Mirit was off,
as she fought and slayed each monster,
she realized that she couldn't leave the pure souls behind,
they relied on her, they needed her.
It was impossible for them to accompany her to Cottidianus Veritate,
their souls had no physical form,
Mirit knew she would have to leave her body behind,
she was the guardian of the pure spirits.
As night fell once more,
so did the tears of Mirit’s mother and father,
on the white sheets lay the body of the now deceased girl,
cold and unfeeling, unlike her spirit and soul.
Mirit kept fighting for the good,
her life now eternal,
freeing many of their dark thoughts,
keeping the world safe from Tenebris Veritate
