The Flame
The flame dances in the breeze,
Igniting passion to the night.
The flame flickers with glee,
Against the dark, it fights.
It was once dark,
Black like coals.
Until the flame found life,
Sparking wonder in my soul.
It licks the wall with shadows,
Showing off the unseen.
The night tried to overtake it-
But the flame won with its gleam.
And now the flame stands,
Rooted by the wick.
Waiting patiently,
By the sound of the clock's tick.
The black creeps in,
Waiting to blind.
But the flame burns on,
Ready to shine.
In the presence of light,
The dark becomes lame.
For there is no evil,
The light can't tame.
All it takes is one strike,
Just one little spark,
For light to win victory-
See? We don't have to run from the dark!
It's the same in life,
This story is parallel, you see.
When the dark settles,
Afraid, you shouldn't be!
But you haven't got matches,
No light can be found!
In terror and panic, you might look around.
But you can see nothing!
The dark's dropped it's shade.
But fear not- no! don't be afraid!
For a fire burns bright,
Deep in your soul.
And the dark can not come,
One look at the light- the dark them must go.
But the power isn't the light-
It's the Giver, you see!
The One who made everything,
Who hung on a tree.
He gives us the light,
So we may have peace.
And if we only shine it,
The night can spark bright!
But the choice rests in the holder,
Will he let the fire out?
Or let the dark smolder?
If you shine it, I promise thee-
The fire will never be quenched.
Because the Lord paid your fees.

I'd just like people to see that Jesus is the flame in our lives, and even though the struggle and the dark seems scary... It only takes one strike of a match, and the light always wins victory over the dark. Always.
