Painted Smiles
White sky and blue clouds,
green dirt and brown grass.
A backwards world we live in.
The tranquility of despair
reflecting earth like a broken mirror.
Broken streets and broken homes,
broken people all alone
with sunken eyes, seeping subtle
sighs conforming to
society's abrupt lies. Painted
smiles surpass acquainted sorrows.
Sleeping with eyes open to
match the words unspoken.
