Candle Friends
Their ability is their gift: to hold a flame
Always keeping you alight to reality
Their scents and purpose are not all the same
Yet they share the function of making you see clearly
Wax is their secrete, wax is their give
It’s what keeps their cause alive
Instant, melting and strengthening is why their truth relive, and outlive
And you’re part of that wax that makes them thrive
The shadows you don’t see, they flicker to
On the walls that enclose your life
Reliable, as long as wind doesn’t pass through
They tend to stray from any strife
I have had many candles in my days
Some were lit, some were not
But in all those that I hold my way
Some were given, none were bought

This describes some people in my life. Those honest friends who always have your back when it comes to telling you the truth. They are the friends you can trust to be "one" when you need them to. I love those kinds of people, and feel as though I should dedicate a poem to them.
