Cape Cod Morning
It is always calm after a storm.
There is almost complete silence in the house.
The only sound I can hear is the soft wind pushing the long grass towards the house.
The house is peaceful as it always is.
I’m not sure if I like it this way.
Maybe if there were people here I would learn to enjoy the peace.
The house is nothing is like it was previously.
It was loud and frightening.
I don’t want to think about it anymore.
It has always haunted me.
The bright blue sky is vivid with few clouds.
I stare back at it blankly with a grimace on my face
Because I cannot enjoy what I have now when all I think about is the past.
