Greatest game on dirt
Oh to you sport that you call baseball
I love this sport so much,
even though you can frustrate me sometimes
To stepping on the field with all my friends,
And going to war with them against our enemies.
I still love walking onto the field to play game
that’s why i call it the greatest game on dirt.
Oh to rain that ruins everything
to making us put on jenny the tarp,
to cancelling our game that we look forward to all day
them pushing practice inside,
but you do water our field
you do keep it soft for a few days.
Oh to long sunny days
that we spend hours sweating
to you making use wear our sunglasses,
then when i look up to catch a ball and i have to block you out of the way
to all the heat that you put down on us.
To drying out our field making it hard as rock
as we give you the name dewane the rock.
Oh to you game days
getting dressed up for school
to supporting your school,
always wondering if your in the starting lineup
to putting on the fresh jersey that you earned.
Where you put everything you went over in practice all comes together in one day
to turning up you music on your phone to get focused for the game
the silent bus rides to other schools
and getting dressed in the lower parking lot.
Oh to the long practice days
to wearing long sleeves tell it above 75 degrees
to listen to coach tell us what to do,
and him making us run because we can’t do one thing right
to scrimmaging jv and beating up on them.
It’s all about the great game of baseball.
