Lost in a City
I’m wandering the city of lights,
The dark gravel is wet
rocks grind on each other
as I drag my feet,
drenched clothes are tight
against my skin.
Water drips
from my pruned fingers
the sky smells like recent rainfall,
there’s not one figure in sight.
I’m looking for someone
to hold my hand through the street;
someone I can be lost with.
But instead,
I’m lost in a city
alone.
