The Fear
Drifting off into our sleep
Or is it the cold hands of death
Reaching out to have us buried
Filled is my mind with this terror
Filled is my mind with this unknown
Will it bring savation or regret?
No I refuse to die with regret
The dark sleep
It can not cure the unknown
So bring on this challenge called death
My mind slowly losing the terror
Strong will be my soul when I am buried
I will survive after I am buried
It will not leave me with my regret
Soon my body will be free of this terror
I will walk proudly into this sleep
I will conquer this death
I will learn the unknown
Now all I see is the unknown
With me it will be buried
Down into death
I will leave on earth my regret
And turn away this sleep
For it brings only terror
Leave me now with my terror
A battle I must face with the unknown
If won I shall forever evade this sleep
Never to be buried
I shall hide from my regret
And defeated is my powerful enemy death
Will I fight agian with death?
Will it fill me with a new terror?
Shall I once again form regret?
I now see a new unknown
Have I been buried?
Am I to truly know this sleep?

This is a sestina about how death is seen differently. Some are fearful and are constantly worrying about when and where it will happen. Some believe it never will. Some think that there is something after death and some don't. This poem's goal is to capture those different view points and put them into a light that everyone can understand.
