Disaster
In the streets of London
Downtown Boston
Outside of Houston
A disease broke out
Which caused some to groan and shoot
'Twas in 2041
When people stopped having fun
Shelters were built
Some with a tilt
And many people began to say
"I think it is doomsday."
The humans began to fight
With the creatures that brought fright
And it wasn't till 2101
Till the fight was partly done
But many were killed
Many dreams, unfulfilled

The poem I wrote was a doggerel called Disaster. The surface meaning was anything can happen. Here the world looked great but then the disease broke out. The deeper meaning however, was when people can come together to fight a greaterevil. I was inspired by the novel I recently read, The Enemy, by Charles Higson , which was about an apocalypse, where people came together to fight against an enemy.
