The Rooms of Our Minds: Fear
Enter my space with no windows or paint
and close the door behind you.
Collapse on this floor and I’ll tell you some more
of the feelings that come to destroy us.
The door has left and here where we wept
the air grows heavy from darkness.
The heat of our breath leaves mark where we rest
our pounding heads that succumb us.
The walls close in, but you cannot win
in the race against your own shadow.
From here we sense our own mind so intense
with the thoughts and words that invade them.
No longer are we, oblivious to thee
but instead choose to surrender.
Our words, our actions are all endless factions
of the voices that have come to take us.
None of us are safe from my room and the paint
waiting in the back of our minds.
They all sit and wait with Anger and Hate
in a prison locked away.
When you release them, the shadows at peace then
begin to whittle away
The hope and sanity replaced with profanity
of everything that could ever go awry.
So never forget the times of regret
that fear filled your mind.
For fear is so beautiful, yet so irrefutable
the demon in all of our lives.
