I Dreamt of the Heavenly Citadel
I dreamt of the heavenly citadel,
high in the sun-painted clouds.
An aura of gentry bids me farewell,
urging me to remain in the crowds.
Billions of others wishing, hoping for the extreme,
that the absolute hand will grapple them;
lifting them from the depths of the communal dream.
Instead, continually, the masses are condemned.
The invitation of the future extends out universally,
but is only truly accepted by a select few.
Those who endure the pain of pulling out the sweet tooth of normalcy.
Priorities firmly placed, unable to go askew.
Disregarding the scrutinization of the impeccable,
I muster on, accepting the invitation of future eventualities.
Realizing my dream may actually be sensible,
first I must turn my dreams into realities.

This poetry piece delves into the uncertainties of my ambitious aspirations for the future. The "heavenly citadel", on the outside represents Berkeley, the school of my dreams, but has an even deeper meaning. It signifies refuge and escape from my current life. I am a constant dreamer, and this poem exemplifies the hardships of chasing your dreams, but also shows my progression from simply dreaming of a seemingly impossible future to realizing and working towards my dream. I hope those who read this poem come to the same understanding as I; if you want to be someone great, first you must break free from the constraints of society. Billions dream of a better future, but only a select few make that dream into a reality.
