Tomorrow I Go, Today I Stay
Tomorrow I go, today I stay
Tomorrow I will leap and enter the fray.
Today I eat, preparing for the morrow
No time for happiness, anger, or sorrow.
One day I found myself in a dark room
With nothing but me, the floor and a broom.
This cold, hard floor was meant to be swept
I cleansed the place and then lay down and slept.
I awoke in an instant, yet many years passed
Why was I here? How long would this last?
This brings us to today, where I was eating my fill
I tried swallowing the broom, much like a pill.
There was nothing else in the room to eat,
so I smashed the broom to pieces, like pulverizing meat.
I choked down every last little shard
Swallowing wooden splinters proved to be hard.
The soft part of the broom wasn't quite as bad
But after I finished, I began to feel sad
As the broom was my friend, my only companion for years
And destroying it like that brought me to tears.
But I think it's about time that I leave this place
I'll be gone very soon, without leaving a trace.
Tomorrow is the day that I take my leave
And tonight for the death of my friend I will grieve.
After some sleep I'll just open that big door
Now I wonder why I never did that before.
Seriously, there's a huge door on the wall
Have I had an escape this whole time, after all?
Like a painter paints paintings, and a baker kneads dough
I'll discover the outside, when it's tomorrow.
