The presence of God is in us all,
When we rise and when we fall.
And some years ago a man stood there,
On the top of Abe Lincoln's stairs.
He was the embodiment of all we trust,
And he taught to avoid sin like pride and lust.
He taught that all men are created equal,
And that protesting violence never has to be lethal.
So we must pray for the folk on both sides,
Of the world's big conflicts, may they slow down their strides.
That they may make peace, not bloodshed and gore.
That they solve their problems through words and not war.
May we too remember to treat others kindly,
And that we can follow God who never leads us blindly.
We can let others in on the good we share,
And that we try to treat others with love, not despair.
When that man stood there, he reminded us with words,
Of the good that we bring and that we are God’s herd.
We can always change how we look,
Whether we want to watch a movie or read a book.
But it's how you treat yourself,
That says if we live on the highest shelf.
God made us in his own image,
We can do our own thing or we can just mimic.
We decide our fate, not other’s opinions.
You don’t have to be just another minion.
And Mother Earth which was gifted by God,
We have now covered it up with litter and smog.
But we can fix this by treating Earth like a person.
Clean it off before it begins to worsen.
Our goal should be to treat all things equal,
Once this is completed, we would all be more gleeful.
Let us work towards a more fair and bright future,
And let us be more like Martin Luther King Jr.
