I sit and watch with searching eyes

The world around me, full of wonder and surprise

Full of life

Full of joy

I watch the people as they walk by

some slow and steady

some fast and swift

young and old

tall and short

They all walk by to the beat of their own music

But with one thing in common

There is beauty and grace in every step they take

They are all so different

But the same deep within

So I watch

As I grow older

Younger life fills where I once stood

How beautiful

I watch

even as we change

the earth does as well

The shifts and movements around me and beneath my feet

I watch it carefully

As the leaves change from emeralds to rubies to fire then to gold

I see the world's history and secrets slowly unfold

As days go by

warmth floods the land

for the sun peaks above the sky

revealing the wonders only shown by daylight

When all come out to play

when the world blooms and all is bright

And as I watch

Daylights end draws near

For the warmth delivers the cold

settling down for it's calmest moments

when the moon fills the sky

Showing another day gone by

Aging, just like the life it holds

just like us

I watch

Time weaving in and out of every life, every day and every night and throughout the earth

everything changes

everyone is different

But unique

And as we change

I watch

the world moves and grows

New life fills the old

but never shall it be forgotten

That's why I sit and watch

Everything holds beauty

even when others cannot see

Life

Laughter

Love

I watch

I was inspired to write this piece by looking back now as a senior in high school, and looking at the life I had growing up into the person I have become today.
