I'll Never Forget
Today we said goodbye
I couldn't help but cry
He hugged me tight,
And told me everything will be alright.
I watched him flee
As I knealed on my knee
I smiled at the sight,
Knowing that someday we'll reunite.
My sleepless nights,
Were full of frights
I felt loss,
Is his life at cost?
I'm overflowing with worry,
It was hard to burry.
No news came,
And I don't know who to blame
Is he at a bomb site?
Please tell me he's alright
What should I do?
I wish I can undo.
He's gone,
The person I always lean on
I can't hug him anymore,
And that makes my heart feel sore
Should I mourn?
Feel torn?
Or be proud,
Knowing that he helped out a crowd.
I look around,
Millions of poppies and crosses surround.
They represent his silhouette,
And I'll never forget.

I wrote this poem, while thinking about how the families of soldiers felt sending them away to protect their country. I wanted to write a poem that will get people thinking about all the soldiers and veterans whose risking or risked their lives just to protect us.
