When she'd come back
I cried every night wondering
when she'd come back
but when my sister looked
at her she blankly looked back
my sisters hand rose
and she breathed for a second
holding in her tears
because she was expecting
a child, a girl
Our good friend was gone
and we'd miss her so much
her smile, her face, and her touch
but I knew we would get through the sadness
because we're stronger than this-
all of it
the pain and the sorrow
the idea of not seeing her tomorrow
hurt and stung
but,
what could be done...
