Hands
Fear grips me
Its hands not letting me go
I feel them through the fabric
Of the cover I’ve burrowed under
For protection
They make my security
Nonexistent
When the boom of thunder comes again
I whimper and clench myself
Together like a hedgehog
The darkness makes everything worse
But I hesitate to seek light
And move from my hiding place
So I stay and continue
To let fear hold me hostage
