I am from
I am from long hours,
being pushed to the limit,
and then a little bit more.
Early mornings and long nights,
sprints that feel like marathons
and fencelines that feel like eons
I am from the first day,
the feeling of excitement,
the hope for a great season.
the readiness to lay your body
and safety on the line.
I am from unbelievable highs,
the ultimate satisfaction.
The feeling of supremacy over my opponents
and the ecstatic praise of my coaches.
I am from the biggest of heartbreaks,
debilitating sadness,
dreadful defeat, that,
ironically, serves as a driving force to succeed.
I am from the longing for the next season,
the new beginning.
The end of anticipation,
the next shot for glory.
