Quiet Life
I wake up early most mornings
And try getting myself ready.
Although I don’t get much sleep
I’m never tired when the clock hits 12.
I am living a quiet life,
Talking to only some strangers
Keeping many things to myself
I live a quiet life.
Looking back on the past is a waste of time.
You cannot change your mistakes,
So why worry about them?
I learned too slowly to focus on the now,
I wasted so much time being distracted.
But I now know to focus.
I have seen the hills and mountains.
But I have yet to climb them.
I eventually will
And I will make it.
I’ve watched movies on the road
and in different hotels.
I have seen the rides of Cedar Point
and the beaches of Alabama.
The slot machines in Las Vegas
and desserts of Arizona.
I have walked the sidewalks of NYC
and watched knights in Florida.
I’ve rode horses in Kentucky,
And bought chocolate in Hershey Park.
I wake up early most mornings
And live a quiet life.
I’ve traveled the country
Only to miss home each night.
