This is Me
I am from early morning coffee, from Folger and Starbucks,
I am from popsicles after playing outside (melting faster than we can eat)
I am from lilacs, the willow tree whose vines we used to swing on,
I am from Christmas cookie parties, blonde hair and brown eyes,
From Dalton and Doris, Bud and Maxine,
From bedtime stories and "I love yous",
I am from God's day is every day, not just Sundays,
From bedside prayers with my mom,
I am from Scotland, beef noodles and pasta salad,
from the horses my great-grandfather raised, the many dogs named lady,
and the weeks during the summer spent up north with family,
I am from photo albums,
Pages upon pages of moments I wasn't around to see,
And moments I was there to remember myself,
And pages that are empty waiting to be filled with memories to come.
