Grief
A pain that never ends.
It starts when you lose a friend.
Like a disease it takes over your body and mind.
But there’s a cure you’ll never find.
You try everything to numb the pain.
Yet these substitutions will only drive you insane.
It will hit you like a wave at the most unusual times.
This struggle is one of the hardest climbs.
You think you’ll be “over it” in a week, or month, or year.
Knowing that it will only continue is really hard to hear.
You have to accept it because the world goes on.
The person you love is already gone.
You remember all the happy memories that only hurt now.
And you're left alone asking, how?
You wish your life would just restart.
You hold so many unanswerable questions close to your heart.
This may seem a little immature.
But those answers are the only cure.
