wear their hearts upon their sleeves

the cashier that said “drive safe”

some people
hold their heart close
never let it out of sight
scared that it will break
scared someone will steal it
and never give it back

hearts are
beautiful
hideous
colorful
jet black

but mostly
hearts are...
