Without You
“My noon, my midnight, my talk, my sun”
Who else will I think of in my spare time,
I’d be lost with no one to invade my wandering mind.
Who else would I daydream about during the day,
Zoning out on everything around me.
Who else would I think about all night.
Without you I’m as adrift
As a directionally-challenged tumbleweed.
You made me feel,
Joy,
Happiness,
Love.
You brought color to my life,
Turquoise, violet, chartreuse,
Every color of the rainbow and beyond.
I do not want to live in a world where you are not.
You were the one who understood me,
My muse, my biggest cheerleader, my partner-in-crime,
You were my everything,
No one was more important.
But now you’ve left,
My life, the living, the Earth.
Everything is black and white,
No color, not even grey.
Without you the world is lifeless.
Why did you have to go?
After “Stop All the Clocks” By W.H. Auden
