In the tower the bell
is alone, like a man
in his room
thinking and thinking
here I sit
in my room
thinking and thinking
about what to write
I think about
what I have written
in the past. A poem
about why I don’t like poetry
It was brilliant
smart
a way to get a passing grade
shining like a bronze bell
here I sit
in my room
thinking and thinking
about what to write
And finally, the bell tolls
breaking the silence
and suddenly I know
what to write
