Showtime
Stepping through the door, trembling with fear. Knowing my whole family would be right there. The stage was dark.
Not one single light,
yet I could hear my family
crunching popcorn bites.
I try to calm down,
and tune out the sound,
only to hear
my heart pound and pound.
FastFastFast
I knew that this moment
was one that would last.
200 people staring at ME It felt like I was on an an episode of Glee. Drops of sweat trickled down my pale face, but I knew, deep down, I had found my place.
I stood on stage,
silent as a mouse.
Would have given anything
to be back at my house.
I slammed my eyes shut,
not wanting to see.
For I knew that the lights
were coming up on me.
I heard the switch flip.
Now they could definitely could see,
me standing onstage
the silent little tree.
I did not want
to open my eyes,
for I feared if I did,
I would start to cry.
Before I knew it, time to go.
Eyes open.
Game on.
Time to put on a show
