Shoulder to shoulder
Standing shoulder to shoulder.
Trying to keep their composure.
Body’s tremble from standing still.
The Commander calls out, “This is not a drill.”
Women and men standing side by side.
Nothing and no one to hide behind.
Riffles start to go off.
Praying for lives not to be lost.
All of a sudden there’s no sound.
Darkness comes from all around.
Calling out to the Captain.
Ma’am what has happened?
She calls out to keep standing tall.
We don’t quit till the last man falls.
Bullets continue to fly.
Lights shine from the sky.
The storm of struggle as passed.
We are victorious at last.
